The 'Hands' rockers decamped from their native Britain to Berlin in Germany to record their second album, and singer Katie White admits she initially found the move weird, especially as they came from a gruelling touring schedule back into a normal routine.

She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Our body clocks were so messed up, we were just waking up in the middle of the afternoon and wandering around Berlin, not able to sleep at night , walking in Berlin at three in the morning, not understanding a word of German, going what the f**k are we doing here? y'know."

Both Katie, 27, and band partner, multi-instrumentalist Jules De Martino, looked at a number of different places to record their album, but Jules said the German capital appealed to them most of all.

He said: " We went a couple of times to other cities, Tokyo and New York, but Berlin seems the most easiest, laid back, less hassle, less stress, no one there, no record labels, no music business there; it's all kind of like fun. It made sense to settle there for the second record."

Katie agreed that German capital also influenced the overall sound of the band's as-yet-untitled new album.

She added: "We were quite isolated which I think was the best thing for us. I think it would have been a completely different album if we'd recorded it in Manchester."

The Ting Tings' single, 'Hands', will be released on October 11.
