Pussycat Dolls split was ‘inevitable’ says Scherzinger
Nicole Scherzinger Nicole shot to fame as the lead singer of the R&B girl band alongside fellow members Jessica Sutta, Kimberly Wyatt, Ashley Roberts and Melody Thornton.
Rumours of jealousy within the Pussycat Dolls began circulating at the end of last year, culminating in all of Nicole’s bandmates deciding to leave and pursue solo projects. They have now been replaced by four new members.
Nicole insists there were no hard feelings, but does admit that unavoidable issues arose such as competitiveness and jealousy.
“Nothing went wrong. Sweetie, it’s just inevitable - you put five chicks together and you make one of the biggest groups in the world - things are gonna clash,” she told Perez Hilton.
“You’re breathing each other’s air 24/7; it’s just natural that it’s gonna happen.”
It has been reported that Jessica, Kimberly, Ashley and Melody had been envious of Nicole for always getting lead vocals, although she argues that the other members were in the band for their dancing abilities.
“The group was always a dance group. They actually cast me to come in as the singer of the group. Everyone has an important role but you just can’t get it switched up,” she explained.
The star went on to explain how important singing live is to her because she uses her powerful voice to connect with her audience. She says she enjoys the glory of displaying her vocal talents too much to want to lip-synch in the way pop stars such as Britney Spears do.
“For me as a singer, coming from the stage, it’s a selfish thing as well - how else can I connect with you if I’m not singing?” she added.
