George Michael has been charged with possession of cannabis and driving while under the influence of drink and drugs, according to reports.

The 47-year-old singer was arrested close to his home in Hampstead on the morning of 4 July, after he was seen on CCTV mounting the kerb in his Range Rover and smashing into a building in North London.

According to Sky News, he was charged on 12 August and has since been freed on bail.

Michael, who recently hit out at Lady Gaga for claiming she occasionally uses drugs, will now appear at Highbury Magistrates Court on 24 August.

It was also recently reported that the former Wham! star is being given his own special episode of Glee.
