Prince: I Found Peace As Jehovah’s Witness
Prince The 52-year-old pop star converted to the religion in 2001 after growing sick of his hedonistic rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle. He is now a completely devout member of the branch of Christianity, which requires all followers to publicly preach the word of God once a week.
Prince loves introducing his faith to strangers, and door-knocks as often as possible, albeit flanked by minders and wearing stacked heels and a flamboyant suit.
"Sometimes people act surprised but mostly they're really cool about it,” he explained in an interview with British newspaper The Daily Mirror. "Sometimes I go in disguise. My hair is capable of doing a lot of different things. I don't always look like this."
Prince says his life has been filled with “peace” since he became a religious man. He is happier now than ever before and is desperate to convert others so they can experience his joy first-hand.
"There's an incredible peace in my life now and I'm trying to share it with people,” he explained.
The mysterious religious figure known only as Larry, who inspired Prince to become a Jehovah’s Witness, is still surprised by the star’s missionary zeal. The pair study their bibles for hours at a time and often find themselves discussing what they’ve read until late at night.
“Prince is a spiritual man,” Larry said. “Sometimes we study for hours - six, seven, eight hours a day. We sit down and get into the scriptures."
