Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstong in meltdown

Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong has checked into rehab after suffering an on-stage meltdown at the weekend.
The punk rocker was on stage in Las Vegas when he launched into a tirade of swearing when the band’s set at the iHeartRadio festival was allegedly cut short by 20 minutes to allow more stage time for next act Usher.
Armstrong blasted, “You’re going to give me one minute? One f***ing minute? I’ve been around since f***ing nineteen eighty f***ing eight and you’re going to give me one f***ing minute?
“I’m not f***ing Justin Bieber, you motherf***ers.”
He then smashed his guitar into the floor before leaving the stage. A statement on the group’s Facebook page today reads, “Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances.”
Green Day’s new album, Uno!, is out now and it is unclear what effect Armstrong’s admission to the clinic will have on their recently announced tour plans.
