It seems Britney Spears may not be returning to the X Factor after all.

The pop star said via Twitter she is working on her eighth album, her first since 2011′s “Femme Fatale.”

Britney, 31, tweeted during the weekend saying she is “working hard” on the new record and “collaborating with some new inspiring producers.”

There was no mention of artist collaborations, or a possible title or release date for the album.

Asked by a fan online if she will return for a second season as a judge on TV’s “The X Factor,” she tweeted, “Really focused on my music right now.”
