Introducing Robyn Sherwell
You may have seen London songstress Robyn Sherwell performing around the Olympic park this summer in conjunction with Emerging Icons. Her distinctive and minimal nu-soul-folk melodies are both memorable and emotional.
She was selected to play at both the Olympics and Paralympics and even took the time to record a live acoustic version of her track ‘Heart’ whilst backstage.
Robyn’s songwriting ability shines through on the heart-wrenching song. But her track ‘Mister Mister’ was recently entered into the international music competition, The New Song Contest, and has since gone one to be the international regional representation from the UK and London.
If successful in the competition, Robyn could find herself with the opportunity to record an album with Lestyn Polson – the producer of industry greats such as David Gray and David Bowie.
Robyn has also recently released a few cover videos of SBTRKT’S ‘Hold On’ and Ben Howard’s ‘The Fear’, backed by a xylophone which seemingly works really well.
In addition, to this she’s set to perform at the Lincoln Centre for the Performing Arts in 2013, receive a spot at the Sundance ASCAP Music Café and perform on NationalPublic Radio’s internationally broadcast Mountain Stage.
