Tom Hardy to tackle Everest
The Dark Knight Rises star will take on the role of adventurer George Mallory in his latest screen part.
Following his success in The Dark Knight Rises, Tom Hardy is a man in demand and his latest movie will see him trading a fictional action man for a real life one.
The actor will take on the role of George Mallory, the man who attempted to be the first man to climb Mount Everest in the imaginatively titled, Everest.
Hardy is deep in talks to play the mountaineer in the biopic of his failed attempts to be the first man to reach the peak of the highest mountain in the world in the 1920s.
The mountain climber made numerous attempts to reach the summit before he final ascent in 1924, from which he never returned.
His body was discovered in 1999 not far from the mountain’s peak but it was never proven whether he made it to the top or not.
The film will be directed by Doug Liman and be adapted from Jeffery Archer’s book Paths of Glory.
