First pictures of Jim Carrey in Kick Ass 2

The actor is back to his zany ways in the new movie.

It’s been a while since Jim Carrey has gone completely nuts on camera, having chosen to take some more subtle roles in recent years. However, judging by the new pictures from the set of Kick Ass 2 he is about to bring a sense of lunacy to an already over the top movie.

The first pictures released show Carrey as Colonel Star, a former associate of the villain of the first movie who has turned good and put together a group of vigilantes to make amends for the wrong he has done in the past. The rest of his “Justice Forever” group are Night Bitch, played by Lindy Booth, and Insect Man (Robert Emms) and are joined by Kiss Ass who decides to become part of their hero antics.

It seems that after years in the comedy wilderness Carrey could finally have a hit on his hands as the first movie was very well received by both fans and critics.

Kick Ass 2 is directed by Jeff Wadlow this time around but former director Matthew Vaughn is still on board as producer. The film hits cinemas in July 2013.
