No Hulk movie until after The Avengers 2
Marvel Studio boss says a Hulk movie is possible but not for a few years.
The success of the Avengers has led to any number of films being considered featuring the array of characters that featured in the assembled superhero group, but any chance of a return to the big screen for the Hulk in a solo outing will not happen until after The Avengers 2.
Mark Ruffalo’s version of the not-so-jolly green giant had a whole heap of praise aimed at him for bringing the character to life in a way that others had previously failed, and it is likely he will get a shot at a solo movie in the way of Thor and Captain America but not for a little while.
Asked by MTV if a Hulk movie was coming and whether it would be based on the Planet Hulk storyline which sees Hulk blasted into space where he makes his own world to live in, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige said, “I don’t think there’s a lot that we couldn’t do someday, as the cinematic universe continues to grow and expand and get as big as the comic book universe. Planet Hulk is a cool story, World War Hulk is a cool story.
“I think there’s pitfalls of continuity-overload, and mythology getting so dense that it almost collapses in on itself. It happens every few decades or so in the comics. Apart from that, I’d say everything is on the table.
“Do I think Hulk can carry a movie and be as entertaining as he was in Avengers? I do believe that. I do believe he absolutely could. We certainly are not even going to attempt that until Avengers 2. So there’s a lot of time to think about it.”
