Taken 2 re-edited for lower UK rating
The kidnap sequel has had violent scenes cut to prevent a 15 certificate being given.
It seems that UK cinema-goers will see an edited version of new movie Taken 2 as movie bosses wanted the film to receive a 12A rating.
The film, which contains scenes of intense violence, was set to have a15 certificate slapped on it, meaning no one under that age would be admitted. Some of the harder scenes have now been cut from the finished movie in order to secure the lower rating and open the film up to a younger audience.
A statement by the BBFC said, “The company was advised that the film was likely to receive a 15 rating but that their preferred 12A rating could be achieved by making changes to three scenes. These were to reduce elements of violence and threat.
“When an edited version of the film was submitted for formal classification, the scenes had been reduced and the film was consequently rated 12A.”
The movie hits UK cinemas on the 4th October.
