The Dark Knight Rises takes $100 million from IMAX
The superhero movie has become only the second film to take the huge IMAX figure.
The Dark Knight Rises has continued to march on towards a massive total Box Office takings, and has surpassed the $100 million mark on IMAX sales alone.
The film has so far taken just over $65 million on US IMAX screens and $37 million from the rest of the world. The only other big screen movie to achieve the phenomenal amount was James Cameron’s Avatar.
The Dark Knight Rises has also become only the 13th movie in history to break the $1 billion takings milestone for its total worldwide earnings. Its predecessor, The Dark Knight also managed to make more than $1 billion back in 2008.
It is thought that despite the impressive figures, the tragic shootings in the US at the beginning of the film’s run could have cause a loss in some takings, but it does not seem to have dented the overall success of the movie.
