Could Bill Murray be replaced for Ghostbusters 3?
Dan Aykroyd - Ghostbusters Ghostbusters 3 has been one of the most anticipated “possibly in production” films of the last year, but the frequent sticking point of Bill Murray has prevented it moving to a “definitely in production” film that we can’t wait to come out.
According to latest word from Dan Aykroyd, there still isn’t anything of a certain answer on whether the film will go ahead with Bill Murray or not.
Talking on a webcast with Empire magazine, Aykroyd made the suggestion that Murray’s character of Peter Venkman could be recast.
He said, “We communicate frequently and his position on the involvement in ‘Ghostbusters 3′ has been made clear and I respect that.”
He went on to comment that the studio could do a “Jack Ryan” type recast, but the question is who could replace Murray as an older version of Venkman.
The script is apparently ready to go, and Aykroyd said that even Rick Moranis could be a potential participant, despite him retiring from films 15 years ago.
However, even taking all this into account, 2012 could be the year that it all falls into place, as all the cast, including the reluctant but highly desirable Murray, have nothing on their schedules. We can only keep our fingers crossed.
