James Bond: Skyfall budget cuts mean UK shoot
Daniel Craig The upcoming 23rd movie in the spy franchise – which will again star Daniel Craig as 007, Dame Judi Dench as M and Javier Bardem – was to shoot in numerous locations throughout the world, including China, India and Bali.
However, the aforementioned budget restrictions will now mean Turkey is the only country outside of the UK to be visited by the movie’s crew and cast.
A source close to the production spoke to British newspaper The Daily Mirror, saying: “Originally six different countries were selected but, after several technical and financial problems, it was decided to scale back and just use Turkey as the sole foreign location.”
Beaches in Britain will be utilised – including Bognor Regis on England’s south coast – as will the world-famous Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.
The insider added: “As well as Pinewood’s incredible facilities, the UK has some stunning beaches, particularly along the south coast near Bognor and parts of Wales.
“While Bognor is hardly the most exotic of locations, it is important for the franchise that they support British industry, and give something back.
“Everyone is confident this will be one of the best Bonds ever.”
Shooting on the Sam Mendes-directed Skyfall – which will hit cinemas in Britain on October 26 this year – has already started at locations in London including Charing Cross and Canary Wharf.
The movie will see Bond’s loyalty to boss M severely tested when her past returns to haunt her, while 007 must also track and destroy the instigators of an attack on MI6 – no matter the personal cost.
