Lindsay Lohan to play Dame Elizabeth Taylor?
Lindsay Lohan Deadline.com has reported that the actress has seemingly entered into talks with American cable television specialty channel Lifetime about taking on the role of the late Hollywood star in Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story – a film that will concentrate on Taylor’s turbulent relationship with actor Richard Burton.
The movie – which is being written by British director Christopher Monger – looks certain to be produced by Crimes of Passion producer Larry Thompson.
While Taylor – who died in March of last year due to congestive heart failure – married seven men, she always thought of Burton as her soulmate and even married him twice, before their relationship finally collapsed following their second divorce back in 1976.
The star of 1963 historical drama Cleopatra was aged 79 when she died, having battled through many years of poor health.
If the TV movie does get the green light, it will be 25-year-old Lohan’s first role since appearing in 2010 action-comedy film Machete.
Lohan – who posed naked in the January/February 2012 edition of Playboy magazine – has witnessed her acting career hit something of a hiatus over the past few years as her problematic personal life took over.
She has made several appearances in court, as well as short stays in prison, and has also checked into rehab in an attempt to rid herself of alcohol and drugs addiction.
