Jim Carrey for Bruce Almighty sequel?
Jim Carrey Universal have asked Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul to pen a script for the movie that might well see Carrey return as unlucky television reporter Bruce Nolan who complains about God so often that he has almighty powers bestowed upon him as a lesson in how tough is can be running the world.
The 49-year-old actor previously spoke about his yearning to shoot a sequel to the film, saying: “We are talking about maybe returning to some old characters that everyone has been asking about.
“There’s Bruce Almighty and we are talking about maybe another Dumb and Dumber.”
However, it is not clear whether Jennifer Aniston will return to play Grace Connelly – Bruce’s girlfriend – or if Morgan Freeman will appear again as God in the upcoming movie, although a spin-off, Evan Almighty, which starred Steve Carell as reporter Evan Baxter, did feature Freeman when it hit cinemas back in 2007.
Meanwhile, Carell and Carrey have been lined up to star in comedy Burt Wonderstone, with the latter portraying a street magician who outshines Carrel’s Las Vegas illusionist character after he has sacked his previous partner.
Don Scardino is preparing to direct Burt Wonderstone – which has been slated for a 2013 release – while Tyler Mitchell is set to pen the story.
