Kiefer Sutherland revealed that the 24 movie will begin filming once he has finished work on new TV drama Touch.

The Jack Bauer actor said shooting should start in April and that the film is very much in keeping with the TV series.

Sutherland told Collider.com: "I see it as a continuation. The script that we’ve got right now, which I’m very, very excited about, is relatively a direct continuation. It’s within six months from the end of the last episode. We’ll see where it goes from there."

And the actor explained that the movie will not be able to keep to real time as in the TV series, but is a two-hour representation of a 24-hour day.

Sutherland also revealed that new TV drama Touch, about a widower with a mute son, was a big change for him after years starring in 24.

"Does it happen to be a nice diversion from 24? Yes. I just couldn’t turn this down because it spoke to me on a really profound level. The character is so vastly different (from Jack Bauer), the tone of the piece is so vastly different. And that’s part of its appeal."

Touch begins in the US in March.
