Jessica Chastain for Osama bin Laden death film?
Jessica Chastain The Tree of Life actress was approached by Bigelow to portray a field intelligence analyst who assists in the tracking down of the terrorist – who was responsible for the September 11 attacks on the USA in 2001 that resulted in the destruction of the Twin Towers in New York – in the film that is slated for release at the end of this year.
However, the movie, which has a working title of Kill bin Laden, needed rewrites after the terrorist was discovered in a private residential compound in Pakistan and shot dead by US Navy SEALs and CIA operatives in a secret operation ordered by US president Barack Obama on May 2 last year.
Bigelow – who won an Oscar for best picture in 2009 with The Hurt Locker – is again working with Mark Boal, who was the screenwriter for that successful war movie.
Boal managed to gain personal access to the Navy SEAL (sea, air and land) team that ultimately killed Bin Laden.
While predominantly known for starring in drama movies The Tree of Life and The Help, 30-year-old Chastain also played an agent with Mossad – Israel’s national intelligence department – who is situated in East Berlin for last year’s thriller The Debt.
