Kimberly Peirce Kimberly Peirce is thought to have joined the production for the new big screen remake of King's debut novel.
Following on from reports in the summer that Stephen King’s Carrie was to be remade, it has now been reported Boys Don’t Cry writer/director Kimberly Peirce is in talks to direct.
Carrie was originally adapted from King’s debut novel in 1976 by Brian De Palma, and starred Sissy Spacek in the title role of the teen girl with terrifying telekinetic powers. An ill-received sequel was made in 1999, while a TV Mini series of the novel was aired in 2002.
The new film will be written by Roberto Aquirre-Sacasa, and is said to be a new take on King’s novel rather than a remake of De Palma’s film, which did cut out a number of key parts of the novel.
