Despite the film being classed as a "disappointment" the second part of the trilogy is still in production.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo did not set the box office alight the way it was hoped, but according to Sony Entertainment the second part of the trilogy will still be going ahead.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, a rep said, “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo continues to do strong business and there is nothing changed in respect to the development of the next book.”

The film has so far taken over $60 million in the US but has been seen as a box office disappointment in comparison to some of the other big movies released at the same time. There has been speculation that the follow-up would perhaps be indefinitely put on hold.

Audiences have responded well to the film, and the actors, Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara have already signed up to the sequel, so perhaps the trilogy is on steadier ground than the neigh Sayers wpould have you believe.
