The Hunger Games buzz overshadows Twilight conclusion

There is a new vampire movie series on the horizon, and it's buzzing bigger than Stephanie Meyer's film finale.

Twilight may have dominated a very busy Vampire genre recently, but it looks like the latest buzz is centred more on upcoming vamp movie The Hunger Games than the final part of the Twilight Saga.

Breaking Dawn Part 1 lagged behind Harry Potter in MTV’s best of the year poll on Nextmovie.com, while the concluding film was beaten by The Hunger Games as the most anticipated film of 2012. Is Stephenie Meyer’s vampire finale about to be usurped by the young pretender?

According to the poll, Twilight leads Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were also beaten in the Best Onscreen Couple poll by Potter stars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. Shame.

Casting aside any kind of schmaltzy melodrama, The Hunger Games ditches the Twilight relationship thing in favour of a bleak vision of teen fights to the death in a futuristic North America, and the film is building a huge buzz following the success of the books it is based on.

The Hunger Games is released 23rd March 2012.
