Daniel Craig got hooked on Dragon Tattoo novel
Daniel Craig Daniel Craig revealed he is a massive fan of Stieg Larsson's novel The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Craig plays Swedish journalist Mikael Blomkvist in the 2011 movie adaptation and said he felt a connection with the character after reading the book.
He told the Press Association: "I like his attitude. He's fighting the good fight, trying to uncover corruption and to be an influential journalist.
"Someone gave me a copy of the book on holiday and I read it in two days. It's one of those books you just don't put down. There's this immediate feeling that bad things are going to happen."
The movie is the second adaptation of the novel following a Swedish version in 2009. David Fincher directs the 2011 version, whose last film The Social Network won three Oscars.
Craig said Fincher's attention to detail impressed him during filming: "Once you see the way he builds a scene brick by brick, it's an easy process to relax into. You give yourself over to it, knowing he's got his eye on all the important details."
The movie stars Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Sander alongside Christopher Plummer, Stellan Skarsgard, Robin Wright and Steven Berkoff.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo opens in the UK on Boxing Day.
