Simon Pegg unsure about Khan's Star Trek return
Simon Pegg The English actor – who will return as Scots engineer Montgomery ‘Scotty’ Scott for the JJ Abrams-directed movie – admitted that he is uncertain as to whether the rumours surrounding the return of superhuman scoundrel would be a good idea for the second film in this latest incarnation of the 1960s television series as he does not believe there would be “much value” in him making an appearance.
The 41-year-old chatted with MTV News about this possibility, saying: “I haven’t heard the name Khan come up. Not to say it won’t come up, but I have heard no mention of him whatsoever.
“He is a great villain. I don’t want to say too much and then have to eat my words as I often do, but we’ve seen Khan in a Trek movie before. To see him again, how much value is there in that? I don’t know.”
Pegg did, however, admit that he has taken a look at the movie’s script and reckons the correct decisions – including bringing back stars Zoe Saldana, Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto – have been taken to make the follow-up a box office success.
He added: “As we did in the last film, there’s a lot of directions you can go with the film.
“in this case, we chose to do something we thought would be original and unique and different and I think, on paper, we made the right choice. Now we have to go shoot.”
Star Trek 2 – which is just a working title – will hit cinemas in May of 2013.
