Johnny Depp says his Tonto will be as big as Jack Sparrow
Johnny Depp With his Lone Ranger project back in production, Johnny Depp has been talking about the film to Larry King, and has revealed that he believes his take on Tonto will be as popular with audiences as his Pirates of the Caribbean character Jack Sparrow.
Depp said, “What I like about Tonto is, like when I came up with Jack Sparrow I thought, “Okay I’ve really arrived at something different here,” and Tonto feels right on par with that. It feels like another Captain Jack.”
Depp went on to say that he has read the new script, which had to be re-written following the budget cuts which were necessary to make sure the film could still be made.
“It is a very funny script,” he said. “A good script…there’s a boatload of humour.”
Full production on the film begins in February, and the film is expected to be out in May 2013.
