Taylor Swift, Lea Michele and Scarlett Johansson battle for Les Mis role

The trio have all auditioned for the role of Eponine in the upcoming movie adaptation of the stage musical.

Scarlett Johansson, Taylor Swift and Lea Michele are reported to be battling it out to take on the lead role in the upcoming movie version of Les Miserables alongside Hugh Jackman.

The big screen adaptation of the stage musical also has Russell Crowe, Geoffrey Rush, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter on board, and is guaranteed another with whoever wins the role of Eponine.

According to the New York Post gossip column Page Six, Taylor has already been auditioning for the role, while Glee’s Lea Michele, who made her Broadway debut in Les Miserables back in 1995, has tried out along with Scarlett and Evan Rachel Wood.

The film, directed by Tom Hooper, is set to begin filming in the spring with a December 2012 release date.
