Ricky Gervais to host the Golden Globes
Ricky Gervais Ricky Gervais - who infamously caused quite a stir when hosting the Golden Globes last year - will be returning to our screens in January yet again - when the star studded show has been set to take place.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) - announced yesterday that the U.S ceremony which acknowledges outstanding performances in film and television - will be presented by Ricky who made jibes at celebrities and the HFPA on last year's show.
The organisation had contemplated on the idea of bringing the controversial comedian back to host the event, after he made a number of digs, such as on Scientology and about actor, Charlie Sheen.
‘The Office’ star posted a YouTube clip on his Twitter page for fans yesterday of his monologue from 2011, he said, "This x 10."
Ricky convinced producers of the award ceremony that he was in fact only joking around and not going mad.
In a statement the HFPA said: "After weeks of rumours, it's finally official - Ricky Gervais will be back to host the Golden Globes for a third year.
"While many welcome Gervais's return, not everyone is happy with the decision because last year his blunt one-liners targeting big-name celebrities caused anger and resentment in some quarters."
This will be the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards and is scheduled to take place on Jan. 15.
