Anne Hathaway signs up for Les Miserables

The star has beaten off competition to take the role in the ucoming epic film.

Fresh from her Catwoman stint in The Dark Knight Rises, Anne Hathaway has now signed up for the role of Fantine in Tom Hooper’s adaptation of Les Miserables.

The actress has been rumoured to be considering the role for some time, but finally all the speculation has been laid to rest as her addition to the cast has been confirmed.

Hugh Jackman, who is set to star as the lead in the film, has been trying to persuade Hathaway to take on the role of the prostitute in the retelling of the famous Victor Hugo story.

Hathaway has now beaten off competition from Amy Adams and Rebecca Hall for the singing role in the movie, and will join Jackman, Russell Crowe and Helena Bonham-Carter in the epic new film.
