Bruce Willis in talks for GI Joe sequel

The Die Hard star is in negotiations to play the original GI Joe.

Bruce Willis could be about to step into the role of the original GI Joe in the sequel to the film of the same name based on the 80’s comic books.

The 56 year old Die Hard actor is thought to be taking on the role of General Joe Colton, who foundered the GI Joe strike team in the comic book s ending up with nickname of GI Joe. Willis was last seen in action film Red, and had a brief role in star-studded The Expendables.

Channing Tatum, Ray Park and Lee Byung-hun are all back for the sequel, which is being directed by Jon M Chu.  Ray Stevenson, last seen in Thor, will play villain, Firefly, a Cobra member who is known for his skills as a ninja, explosives expert and saboteur.

Other star on board the project include Dwayne Johnson, Elodie Young and Adrianne Palicki.

Filming is due to begin later this month and a summer 2012 release is currently expected.
