The toy franchise tie in has held off competition from Horrible Bosses, and Cars 2 to hold on to the number one spot.

Despite some critics calling it dumb, it seems that combination of robots and fighting has once again struck box office gold as Transformers : Dark of The Moon has held onto the box office top spot for a second week.

The third film in the robot franchise has taken an estimated $47 million this week to remain at the top of the charts ahead of other contenders including Disney’s Cars 2 and Cameron Diaz’s Bad Teacher. New film Horrible Bosses also managed to climb to a number 2 debut.

The third film in the Transformers franchise sees Shia Labeouf once against fighting alongside the metal stars of the film, although he has made it clear that this will be his last adventure.
