James McAvoy says UK filmmakers are dumbing down for US audiences

James McAvoy James McAvoy believes British filmmakers dumb down their movies to satisfy US audiences.
The Brit star, who was promoting his new flick X-Men: First Class, told Sky News: "We dumb our movies down because we want Americans to understand them.
The Americans watch it and go 'this is a really unsophisticated dumbed down movie. Why would we want this? Why do we like this? We don't.'"
He added: "It's like we're patronising them and short-changing ourselves."
McAvoy plays a young Charles Xavier in the latest X-Men installment.
