The plans to cast 39 year old Jennifer Garner as the famous sleuth have brought disbelief and complaints from the press and Christie fans alike.

If someone told you to imaging having a crush on Miss Marple, unless you were over the age of 60, then you would probably rather cut off a certain piece of anatomy before contemplating it.

So when Disney announced that they plan to make a Miss Marple film and cast the gorgeous and very young (in Marple  terms) Jennifer Garner as the world famous sleuth, there was something of an outcry from Agatha Christie fans and the British press.

Now children’s book author Charlie Higson, who is author of The Young Bond series, said it is unlikely that the Christie estate would ever agree to this kind of adaptation. “These estates are very powerful and controlling. I know the Christie estate has been hands on to preserve what they’ve got.”

Christie’s biographer added that the author would never have approved of the project considering she once denounced an a series of films by MGM featuring her character.

From the press, the London Daily Telegraph said, “This makes about as much sense as casting Dame Judy Dench as Cinderella or Justin Bieber as Inspector Morse.”
