Michael Bay admits mistakes were made with Transformers 2
Michael Bay The filmmaker admitted the flick, which starred Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf, did not live up to people's expectations.
He said: "We made some mistakes. The real fault with [Transformers 2] is that it ran into a mystical world. When I look back at it, that was c**p. The writers's strike was coming hard and fast.
"It was just terrible to do a movie where you've got to have a story in three weeks."
The film's producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura also had something to say about the movie.
Speaking to Britain's Empire magazine, Bonaventura said: "People also forget we got slammed on the first one. It wasn't quite as bad, but it was basically a slamming.
"Critics have missed the boat on a very simple thing: audiences love to be entertained. People just ganged up on it."
