Official trailer for X-Men: First Class released
James McAvoy The official trailer for the latest Marvel movie X-Men: First Class has finally gone live.
Starring James McAvoy as a young Charles Xavier, the prequel tells the story of the X-Men's origination in the 1960's amidst America's Cold War struggle with Russia, before he and Erik Lehnsherr take on their eventual alter egos.
Directed by cult hero Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, Kick Ass), the film boasts an all star cast including Hugh Jackman, Kevin Durand, Lynn Collins, Ryan Reynolds and January Jones.
Speaking to Empireonline.com recently, Jones admitted that the movie had been “a long, hard shoot” and that, despite trailers being released, there is still some shooting time to go on the move. With the film set for release in June this year, the trailer has drawn mixed reviews from critics and fans alike.
The Guardian online film blog commented that, when compared to other franchise openers such as Batman Begins, the prequel “did not look anything like as revelatory so far”, whilst Empireonline.com commented that director Vaughn looks to be “bringing something intriguing to the screen.”
X-Men: First Class will be the fifth film in the comic book series, with the most recent being the box office success X-Men Origins: Wolverine, released in 2009. The trailer can be found at empireonline.com.
