John Travolta and James Franco could be set to star in a new film about a notorious US crime family.

According to TMZ.com, the 56-year-old Grease star will play former mafia boss John Gotti, who was nicknamed The Dapper Don.
Oscar nominated actor Franco, 32, has also been approached to play his son John Gotti Jr.

Gotti was sentenced to life in jail back in 1992 on numerous charges, including 13 murders and illegal gambling.

He then passed away ten years later from throat cancer.

The director of The Notebook, Nick Cassavetes, is said to be reworking the script.
