Cameron Diaz: Green Hornet is no super hero
Cameron Diaz Cameron believes that Seth’s character Britt Reid is hilarious because he has no super powers, yet he wants to become an action hero.
The Green Hornet tells the story of a man who is left a fortune when his father dies and decides to create a superhero-like crime fighting team with the money.
The actress plays brilliant secretary Lenore Case in the movie and believes Seth is perfect for the role because he knows how to ridicule himself.
“He’s not a super hero, he’s just a common man who is lucky he didn’t get killed in his capers - that’s the great thing about it, there is no super strengths... Britt is smart enough to know he’s not smart enough, so he gets Lenore, and he’s smart enough to know he’s not physically capable, so he gets Kato to fulfil his fantasy,” Cameron told BBC News. “And so that’s why Seth works so well in this, because he knows how to play that guy who is self-deprecating.”
In the movie Britt constantly disagrees with his sidekick Kato, played by Jay Chou.
It is that straight-forward idea that Seth believes is at the heart of the movie’s beauty.
“It was a long road but ultimately the idea was always the same, I think that’s why it stuck around. The idea of a hero and a sidekick who doesn’t get along very well – that was always just a simple funny idea to us,” Seth said. “As tough as things got – directors came and went and actors came and went – that idea was always the same from the very beginning and so I think that’s what gave it the ability to keep inching forward.”
