According to reports, the 49-year-old heartthrob is working on bringing the stage production Farragut North, which was penned by former Democratic political operative Beau Willimon, to the big screen.

Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti and possibly Chris Pine will star in the film, New York Magazine reports, with shooting to start in February.

Evan Rachel Wood's and Marisa Tomei’s names have also been linked to the project.

This wouldn’t be Clooney’s first stint behind the camera. His directorial work includes Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, and 2005’s award-winning Good Night and Good Luck.
