With the huge success of their single ‘Grind with Me’ a hit definitely catered for the ladies. The four brothers from Miami speak to UK Flava about their journey to success and what you should do with honey, chocolate and whipped cream.

How did u get the name Pretty Ricky?

(Baby Blu)

When we were all at school together back in the archives of summer 97’, there were 12 of us all brothers. We all used to dress alike, really different to everyone else. We wore fur in the summer when everyone else was in t-shirts. There was a sitcom that started called ‘Martin’ (Lawrence). On the show was a character called ‘Pretty Ricky’. He was slick and always dressed different to everyone else, so all the girl’s at school started calling us ‘Pretty Ricky’.

When did you all realise you had a talent?

(Baby Blu)

Well Spectacular always knew how to sing and me and Slick Em used to rap in school, mainly in detention. So we put all the ingredients in the pot and this is what came out.

What struggles did you face trying to make it?

(Slick Em)

We faced a lot of struggles. There were haters on top of haters and we had to do things on our own. We had to The album is like sexy chocolate with a whole lot of nuts. When you buy the album u got to buy honey, chocolate, nuts and a whole lot of whipped cream.

What advice would you give someone trying to make it in the industry?

(Pleasure)

Pray to god, and keep trying.

What UK artists have impressed you?

(Pleasure)

Kano, everyone knows Craig David, Seal and Crazy Frog is doing is thing.

(Baby Blu starts doing the crazy frog sound)

What are your top 5 favourite songs of all time?

(Spectacular)

5 favourite, there’s too many, I got 19 years of songs to name.

What artist would you like to work with dead or alive?

(Spectacular)

What’s next for Pretty Ricky?

(Pleasure and Spectacular)

overcome the struggles to succeed. We also had to maintain our regular lifestyle and do this 24/7. We were always financially secure; our father taught us how to make money.

What artists influenced you growing up?

(Pleasure)

Jay-Z, Bob Marley, 50 cent, Keith Sweat, Jodeci, H-town, Eminem, Tupac, Biggie, Trick Daddy, Lil’ Wayne, Pitbull.

What makes you different from the other groups out there?

(Pleasure)

We keep it real. You get labels training you to talk a certain way, and we don’t follow that, we talk the way we want to. We don’t care we’re rebellious.

We’re different because;

1. There are three rappers and one singer.

2. We’re not stuck up and arrogant, people respect you more when you’re like that.

3. We take time out for our fans. We give love to all that want to see us. We always stop to give autographs and hugs and kisses. You got to have everything in this business; you can’t just have the looks. You need attitude and the right sounds.

What can we expect to hear from your album?

(Pleasure)
We got a reality show coming out, movies, a clothing line, our label Bluestar Entertainment will be bringing out artists. The album is out in stores September 27th.
