Uunless your name is Nastala. Growing up in the electronic capital of Detroit, Nastala began writing and singing from an early age and eventually captured the attention of electro house big gun, Chris Lake. Once in the studio the pair soon became a winning formula, achieving chart-topping global success with tracks Only One and If You Knew. Now unleashing her debut single, Crazy is everything you could wish for in a bona fide electro-pop anthem. Music Rooms catch up with the lady herself ahead of the release…

Nastala please tell us a little about yourself?

I love music, fashion and smiles and I am always on the hunt for creativity.

What’s your new single ‘Crazy’ about?

It's about that point in a relationship when something's changed but you can't pin point it and you just have to get it off your chest. A Break up anthem I suppose :)

How would you describe your sound?

Acidic, cherry coloured electro/pop with a pinch of experimental electronica.

You have previously worked on Chris Lake’s tracks ‘Only One’ and ‘If You Knew’ what is it like working with Chris?

It was really great! I learned a lot. He's very talented and versatile, so writing and working is always a lot of fun and really creative.

How did your two cross paths?

We had originally got in touch over the net and actually started working via skype.

You also worked with Deadmau5 on the track, what part did he play?

Yes, he did some additional drum production and sorted out that screaming guitar, it was really great to have him involved with the record, he makes everything sound incredible.

Who’s on your collaboration wish list?

Trentemoller, Royksopp….Ooo I have a long list, that will do for now :)

Who have been your main musical influences?

Billie Holiday and Stevie Wonder.

If you weren’t singing what would you be doing?

Hmmm I would probably be an art dealer and have my own art gallery.

What's next for you?

Lots and lots of music. I'm writing a lot of new material right now.
