Interview Time: Taz
Taz TAZ has been linked to Dizze Rascal as co-producing the tune “Just a Rascal”. TAZ says “Me and Dizzee are not in a clik but have a musical friendship”, TAZ has also worked with the infamous Wiley on an underground track which was played on choice FM but was never released.
Also look out for the debut video “Can’t contain me” which TAZ made after signing with Def Jam UK. The video is a full light show blending with electronic beats, clashing with gritty hiphop and the odd heavy guitar riff. To me it feels reminiscent of old techno vid’s, directed by Tim Royes.
As me and TAZ talked about the video he mentioned that he did not have much artistic in-put on the video but got to choose from arrange of scripts, turning down ones with blingy feels and girly elements.
TAZ takes his musical influences from growing up listening to dancehall, ragga hiphop, drum&bass and garage, quoting music in general influences him, listening tastes varies from Lionel Ritchie to Stevie Wonder and the Neptunes.
TAZ has his own production team- Poison Element along with his own record label Robe.
TAZ also talked about doing a collabo with Minogue.
“I would like to work with Kylie Minogue, I think I could bring my style to her while she remains herself fusing the two styles, coming up with something great.” He also would like to work with anyone from Alicia Keys to Ozzy Osbourne.
Once unemployed and a stint in the army, TAZ can now see his fortunes changing as he’s launched in to the mainstream music industry, the future looks bright for him with his debut album “Analyze this “out June 28th set to make big waves as his sound can not be pigeon–holed in any genre hopefully making him stand out from his other counterparts like Dizzee Rascal and Wiley.
Last words from TAZ...
“Keep on what your doing , don’t conform to stereotypes .Red eyed envy is big where I’m from, I’ve always learned that even when I was down and broke you’ve got to try and propel yourself on”.
