Interview Time: Peter Rauhofer

After all, who else can say they´ve remixed everyone from Madonna to Yoko Ono, enjoyed a multitude of massive club and charts hits, run a world famous record label, hosted one of New York City´s most thrilling clubs night AND won a prestigious Grammy award for their studio talents?

Star69 records introduces a new CD series called “New York Anthems VOL.1”. This CD includes New York hottest dancefloor Anthems, including Peter Rauhofer´s unreleased remix of Donna Summer “Power of Love” as well as Offer Nissim´s bland new smash “perfect love”, only be found on this compilation. What are you doing now?

I AM JUST FINISHING MY REMIX OF ‘SEXY BACK’ BY JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE. AND AM ALSO NELLY FURTADO ‘MANEATER’. I HAVE JUST STARTED MIXING MY NEW COMPILATION- ‘I LOVE MIAMI’

You have worked with lots of important artists, but is there anyone that you would like to work with? You know, any song that you like so much.

I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO WORK WITH GRACE JONES AND SADE. TWO AMAZING DIVAS, TWO AMAZING VOICES

Recently you made a collaboration with Madonna, but sharp tongues describe her as a cold and calculating person. How do you describe her? If you could remix another song from her album, which one would you choose?

SHE IS A LEGEND AND THAT COMES WITH A PRICE…I WOULD LOVE TO REMIX SOMETHING FROM HER NEXT ALBUM. I AM WAITING…

During all these years you have made friendship with the best Djs, but are you still in touch with your childhood or adolescence friends?

SOME OF MY FRIENDS FROM WHEN I WAS YOUNG, I HAVE KEPT- BUT SINCE I MOVED TO NEW YORK- I HAVE MANY MORE FRIENDS. BOTH AMERICAN AND FROM ALL OVER.

You are on tour now, any plans to visit Spain? Maybe a festival…

I HAVE HAD NO REQUESTS YET. I LOVE THE SPANISH PARTY SCENE THOUGH. MANY DJS FROM MADRID- I HAVE EVEN RELEASED AN ALBUM FROM CHUS & CEBALLOS.

You have remixed “Turn it Up” by Paris Hilton, if she doesn’t hear you, would you say she is talented for music?

SHE IS THE NEW ‘BRITNEY SPEARS’. ENOUGH SAID.

You work again with artists that you collaborated with before. Pet Shop Boys fans love “Break for Love” with Neil Tennant, do you think that it is possible to collaborate again? Maybe a remix of any song from their new album “Fundamental”.

WE ARE IN DISCUSSIONS NOW. AND ON THEIR TOUR NOW- IN NYC THEY MAY PERFORM ‘BREAK FOR LOVE’.

Who wrote the lyrics for “Break for Love” and what were based on?

THE LYRICS COME FROM A NEW YORK MAN AND ARE BASED ON THE ETERNAL STORY OF ‘LOVE’.

You receive awards, you have money and fame, but what would you like to get? Are you an ambitious person?

I AM VERY HAPPY. I HAVE ACHIEVED ALMOST EVERYTHING I HAVE WANTED.

In your record company you have very important and stylish artists. What a star must have for being in your label?

EVERY ARTIST IS SELECTED FOR THEIR SOUND. IT MUST FIT WITH STAR 69’S SOUND. AND EVERY ONE OF THEIR RELEASES MUST BE UNIQUE….LIKE CHUS & CEBALLOS, SAEED YOUNAN, OFFER NISSIM, SUPERCHUMBO, DJ VIBE, AND OSCAR G.

Any ritual before going on stage?

NO- OTHER THAN GRABBING ANY NEW UNDERGROUND TRACKS TO DAZZLE MY CROWD WITH…

You have djed so many times in parties, what is the craziest thing people did when they saw you?

COUNTLESS CRAZY STUFF.. THE WORLD OVER. BUT WHEN YOKO ONO PERFORMED AT ROXY FOR MY PARTY 3 YEARS AGO- SHE CAME OUT WRAPPED IN A COCOON, CARRIED BY BODYBUILERS AND MOANING AND SCREAMING. THAT WAS CRAZY!

You are a musculated man, do you take care of your body and way of wear? Who are your favourite fashion designers?

YES. IM A NATURAL BEAUTY.(LAUGHS)… I WATCH WHAT GOES INTO MY BODY, OF COURSE. WITH SO MANY HOURS ON THE ROAD AND TRAVELING. AND I HAVE TO LOOK GOOD. MY FAVORITE DESIGNER IS HELMUT LANG.

What artist would you never remix?

CHEEZY UK GIRL GROUPS…- NO- NEVER!

What do you miss so much and you don’t when you are on tour?

I MISS BEING IN MY STUDIO AND MAKING MORE DANCEFLOOR MADNESS. I DON’T MISS THE DIRTY SUBWAYS OF NEW YORK, AT ALL.

Many stars help on charity projects, what about you? Could you imagine a dance record for charity?

I AM APPROACHED A LOT- BUT MOSTY TIMES THEY CONFLICT WITH MY TOUR. I DO A LOT OF PARTIES THAT BENEFIT HEALTH FOUNDATIONS- WINTER PARTY IN MIAMI… DANCE ALBUM? OF COURSE- IF ITS DOWN RIGHT.

Apart from music, what other hobbies do you have?

PHOTOGRAPHY AND I AM A SLAVE TO MYSPACE..(SMILES)

Where do you like to go for being calm and get inspiration for new ideas. Do you like to get lost in the city?

TO THE CLUBS! THE DANCEFLOOR IS MY INSPIRATION!
