Pet Shop Boys Fans Charity Album "Philanthropy" Out Now!

Philanthropy

"Philanthropy" contains enjoyable dance songs with strong lyrics and electronic backgrounds that show a wide variety of styles. Every fan/musician involved is leaving a personal print here. The album is complete and the first 4 track EP is available in digital stores now.

A large percentage of the profits obtained from digital downloads/sales will go to “Kids First Hereford”, a British charity association run By Mark Price, another PSB’s fan. Remixes of “The Rumor”, “Skype call” and “Fanatic Boy” will be available in December. Profits from the remixes sales will go to both charity association and remixers/artists.

-Chris kalera – Music in the Subway
This song, written in 2004, is intended to express the feeling that we have all been through at least once in our lives: Getting bored of the person one’s dating and very upset by his/her behaviour.

-Ray Grant – The Rumor
This song, written in 2007 exclusively for Philanthropy, talks about a well known and perhaps false rumor that Pet Shop Boys hate Erasure and vice-versa. For the writer of the song (LidiaPSB), this rumor was started by a FAN who started spreading it all around and it became bigger and bigger until now. We all know that these kinds of stories are created as an insult towards rival band's fans and they sometimes work! The original idea was to have the track performed by Neil Tennant or Andy Bell in order to prove that this mutual hate was absolutely false.

-KooLTURE - Fanatic Boy
This song, written in 2007, was inspired by the sudden death of a Pet Shop Boys fan named NKP, who was very popular in the chat room where he used to talk with his friends (his only family).
He suffered from cancer and his doctor had said to him that he would last only 3 months more.
That month, Pet Shop Boys were scheduled to perform live in a city near to his hometown and NKP decided to attend the show, full of joy.
He had his ticket and was all ready. But something really sad happened out of the blue: Cancer stole his young and beautiful life fifteen days after having visited the doctor. All of his friends were shocked by the news, even more so knowing that one of his biggest dreams never came true.

-Angel Eyedealism & Sergio bastos – skype call
The lyrics were written in the summer of 2006, and recorded [in NYC] in February 2007. Remixed by Sergio Bastos in spring on 2007. SKYPE CALL ,was inspired by Angel extreme lack of inspiration in [former] communist Prague [CZ].so bored in this country set back thirty years, she turned her back on the groteque 'sexual revolution' of eastern Europe, [primitive, cruel, arrogant men rudely demanding to 'make sex'] sorely missing the brain stimulation of kinky ,intriguing ,flirtation, she took note of sexy, intelligent comments left on myspace, by would be fans/friends. The ensuing emails, offered the promise of romance , and the offers to perform in Portugal. skype calling was the next phase, and off to Portugal she flew. of couse the man was a psycho, but the gigs were enthusiastically recieved. Once back in horrid Prague, she wrote skype call.finally. Going back to NYC, to fight her landlord for my rent stabilized , Manhattan apartment, she recorded the vocals in the Williamsburg, Brooklyn studio with Christian of science vs nature. Back in Lisbon to perform, she met Sergio Bastos, who did a killer remix! and thats how this sexy electric song came to life!
