David Guetta Forced To Halt New Single Release
By MusicRooms on 28/05/2010
David Guetta David Guetta was ordered by record company bosses to stall the release of his new song Getting Over You- because they didn't want him in direct competition with labelmates the Black Eyed Peas.
The beatmixer shot to mainstream fame after his duet with Kelly Rowland, When Love Takes Over, became a worldwide hit, and was flooded with work offers from will.i.am and his group.
But the professional relationship means Guetta was forced to put his own career on hold to allow the band to release their singles first.
He tells Digital Spy, "It's funny because the Black Eyed Peas really loved this song and wanted it for their album, but I told them that I'd already given them I Gotta Feeling and Rock That Body and said, 'I've got to keep something for myself, you know?'
"I've had to sit on the track for ages actually because we're on the same label and they didn't want it going in competition with the Peas!"
