Massive Attack’s Upcoming Album Could Be Different
Massive Attack Robert Del Naja – who is one half of the ‘Teardrop’ electronica duo – explained while their last LP saw them collaborating with musicians they have known for a long time, such as Blur’s Damon Albarn and Elbow’s Guy Garvey, their next offering may be “more instrumental”.
He told BBC 6 Music: “The last record was very different because it was very communal and we worked with people we knew rather than giving people a shot in the dark.
“It was more kind of let’s get together with some people we’ve already got relationships with like Damon and Guy, and I guess it gave it a different feel. Maybe we’ll work with less people, maybe we’ll do something a bit more symphonic and instrumental. It could be completely different on every level.”
DJ and MC Robert – also known as 3D – thinks the reason why their 20-year music career has been so successful is because the pair have always taken their time when writing new material.
He said: “I think the reason we’ve been doing this for such a long time is because we’ve not been in a hurry or burned out all too early. We’ve just kept doing it all at our own pace and doing things the way we want to do them.”
