The actress will star in Cat on A Hot Tin Roof at the end of the year.

Scarlett Johansson is planning to make a return to Broadway for her first live performance since her Tony Award winning stint in A View From The Bridge in 2010.

The Avengers star is landing a role she has been hoping for in Cat on A Hot Tin Roof, playing the part of Maggie which was made famous by Liz Taylor back in the day.

The show’s previews open on December 18th and the show kicks off proper on January 17th at the Richard Rogers Theatre in New York.

Rob Ashford is directing and Benjamin Walker will star opposite Johansson as Maggie’s alcoholic husband in what will be the play’s fifth Broadway revival.

The news comes four months after Johansson was seen at an off-Broadway musical performance saying that she hoped the part would come through for her. It seems that it did indeed.

It adds yet more work into the actress’ tight schedule that is currently packed with upcoming movie roles, some of which are directly linked to her involvement in Marvel’s Avenger franchise.
