J. K. Rowling won’t read Fifty Shades of Grey
The Harry Potter author has promised her editor that she won’t be reading the book that knocked her off the top of the UK’s best seller list.
J. K. Rowling may have had her Harry Potter series knocked off the top of the list of best selling UK books ever by Fifty Shades of Grey, but she is one of the few people to feel they are not missing out by not reading it.
Talking to the Guardian, Rowling revealed that although the book is a worldwide phenomenon, she has promised her editor that she won’t be reading it any time soon.
Questioned over whether she would be checking out the erotic novel, which replaced her boy wizard as the biggest seller of all time earlier in the year, She said no and as for if she feels she is missing out on the current craze, her less than overwhelming reply was, “not wildly”.
Rowling is due to release her first non-Potter, non-children’s fiction novel, The Casual Vacancy tomorrow, and industry insiders have said that she will undoubtedly have another monster hit on her hands.
The question is, will it be as popular and Potter? Probably not, but there will be a lot of interest over whether Rowling can cut it without her magical protégé.
