Judge Stephanie Sautner's zero-tolerance attitude saved Lindsay Lohan's career.

TMZ report sources close to the troubled starlet revealed she was not a big fan of Stephanie to start with - but she now realizes that without the judge being tough on her, her life would still be a mess.

The judge and Lindsay's lawyer, Shawn Holley, met before the ‘Mean Girls’ star was sentenced and decided it was not a good idea to do what the other judges had done in the past - ordering Lindsay to perform hundreds of hours of community service within a year.

The judge and Shawn realized Lindsay needed a more structured sentence so each month she was required to come to court and show she has completed the latest installment of community service, and if she did not she was going directly to jail.

The funny thing is the actress now understands that since the tough love she has been approached with new opportunities - including "Saturday Night Live" and a new Liz Taylor movie.
