Kim Kardashian did 'soul-searching' after marriage split
Kim Kardashian The reality television celebrity broke up with the star of basketball team New Jersey Nets in October of last year after just 72 days of marriage, before immediately visiting her family to be given some vital support in her time of need.
The 31-year-old stunner said: “I really did some soul-searching, and I needed that. I needed to just be with the family.”
But Kardashian – who was supposedly handed as much as $18 million when offering the rights to her wedding – slammed rumours that she only went through with the marriage to Humphries in an attempt to boost her career.
The star of shows such as Keeping Up with the Kardashians and Kourtney and Kim Take New York spoke to Kelly Ripa, who hosts talk show Live! with Kelly, saying: “If you really think about it, if [the marriage] was a business decision, and I really made all that money that everyone was claiming that we made off this wedding, and if the wedding was fake and just for TV ... I’m a smart business woman.
“I would have stayed married longer. This was a bad business decision. If you really think about it, it doesn’t make sense.”
Kardashian – who, despite such a short marriage, still considers herself to be a “hopeless romantic” – added that she has been shocked by the level of criticism that has come her way since announcing her divorce from Humphries.
She added: “It’s been a hard couple of months. I really didn’t think that following my heart would create this much backlash.”
