Brody says Avril “is the closest person to my heart” despite split.

It seems that there are no hard feelings between reality TV star, Brody Jenner and singer, Avril Lavigne.

People magazine report the former couple - who have not officially confirmed their split, took to their twitter page on Tuesday, (17.01.12) to declare their love for each other.

Brody - who is reality star, Kim Kardashian’s step brother wrote: "It really upsets me to read all the FALSE!! stories.

"Avril has always been there for me and is the closest person to my heart. I love her".

Avril, 27, tweeted back, but unlike in the past when they were a couple, she changed the word ‘love’ to three letters instead of four.

In response she wrote: "Luv u 2!!! @brodyjenner.

The couple were first romantically linked in May 2010 and despite their split a source revealed they could very well get back together.

Representatives have not commented on the split - but Avril will still be touring Asia next month.
