Madonna blasted by Elton John's husband
Elton John David Furnish has slated Madonna branding the pop star "embarrassing" and "desperate".
The Canadian/British film maker was infuriated his husband Sir Elton John did not take home Best Original Song at last night's (15.01.12) Golden Globes, losing out to Madonna for her song 'Masterpiece' from 'W.E.'
He took to Twitter and wrote: "Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!
"Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it's narcissism. And her critisism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.(sic)"
Madonna’s success came a short while after rival nominee Sir Elton John – who had been nominated for Gnomeo and Juliet from the animated-comedy film with the same title – also had suggested that the New York-based singer had little chance of victory.
The Englishman said: “Mary J [Blige] might win for The Help – Madonna hasn’t got a f***ing chance.”
When US TV show host Carson Daly jokingly confronted John with: “Those are fighting words,” the 64-year-old snapped back: “They’re accurate words!”
