Jennifer Hudson's Photoshop fury
Jennifer Hudson The 30-year-old singer/actress – who has over the past 24 months shed more than 80lbs – was left furious that photographs of her from when she was heavier were modified by a magazine so that she appeared slimmer because she considers doing such a thing will send out an erroneous message to her many fans.
The former American Idol contestant spoke to US weekly television news magazine Dateline about the alterations, saying: “It’s like, ‘Where’s the rest of me?’ They Photoshopped me probably to the size I am now on that cover, when we all know I was nowhere near that.
“To me, it did not send out a good message. And it did not represent me well. Did I not just prove that talent is enough if I made it this far? Being who I am, being the size that I am?”
The star of 2006 musical-drama Dreamgirls – who became engaged to WWE wrestler and Harvard Law graduate David Otunga in September 2008 – opened a weight loss centre last year and has now dropped more than five dress sizes after the August 2009 birth of son David.
The Spotlight hitmaker, who also opened the Weight Watchers Jennifer Hudson Center back in September of last year in home city Chicago, added: “I never thought I would make it to have my own centre. I’m so honoured to be here and see this day.”
Part of the centre’s profits will assist the Julian D King Gift Foundation – a children’s charity which Hudson created to commemorate the life of Julian King, her late nephew.
